Elizabeth Sandifer created Eruditorum Press. She’s not really sure why she did that, and she apologizes for the inconvenience. She currently writes Last War in Albion, a history of the magical war between Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. She used to write TARDIS Eruditorum, a history of Britain told through the lens of a ropey sci-fi series. She also wrote Neoreaction a Basilisk, writes comics these days, and has ADHD so will probably just randomly write some other shit sooner or later. Support Elizabeth on Patreon.

Thank you for that link – it articulates the seductiveness of unthinking tribalism excellently. (I was marginally disconcerted by the use of “liberalism” several times when I was expecting it to say “conservative” but that’s presumably because of coming from the UK/European political background.)
The case that Trump is being successful because he’s not challenging people is, of course, one of the most disturbing ideas in politics. Anyone who has engaged in even the mildest form of political activism understands this – other people are often willing to listen, and maybe even to engage, but if it requires them to actually think, or, worse, to change their behaviour, then they back off in a hurry.

Off topic, but have you officially suspended the Weird Kitties project? I was enjoying the “hey maybe think about reading this” book lists.

Yeah, it wasn’t getting enough submissions to be sustainable, alas.

Great read. Glad I’m not the only one who noticed Adele’s “Hello” sounds like it was something from the 70’s dusted off and re-gifted. I’ve been visiting the Eruditorum Press site almost every day for months now and I always come away with a new perspective, idea or interpretation I’d never entertained before. Thanks, Phil (and the rest of the gang!) Also, can we expect an Eruditorum post on “Lego Dimensions?” I don’t know if it has a place in the ongoing narrative of Doctor Who, except perhaps as a fun little footnote or a commentary on the nature of the show’s interplay with the culture at large during the Capaldi era (which seems to exist on a strange knives edge of massive international success and a palpable anxiety, at least in fandom, of the era driving away the not-we’s.) I’d love to hear what you think of the Doctor appearing in TBS rap videos with Batman and Chris Pratt…

Well, I did get it for Christmas, so it’s at least possible.
