Elizabeth Sandifer created Eruditorum Press. She’s not really sure why she did that, and she apologizes for the inconvenience. She currently writes Last War in Albion, a history of the magical war between Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. She used to write TARDIS Eruditorum, a history of Britain told through the lens of a ropey sci-fi series. She also wrote Neoreaction a Basilisk, writes comics these days, and has ADHD so will probably just randomly write some other shit sooner or later. Support Elizabeth on Patreon.

I never saw the Science Fiction Sketch as being a parody of Doctor Who, but of the whole '50s sci-fi B-movie genre. The scientist is not the Doctor but a B-movie "professor from the local university" and the ditzy blonde is not Jo Grant but a B-movie damsel in distress.

I have to agree wtih Jesse Smith. That's very much the way I read the sketch, in the same vein as sub-Wyndham sci-fi.

Interesting comments on Ballard. Have you read This Town Will Never Let Us Go, by the way?

Not sure if you guys have read the entry for Monty Python, but calling it a parody was a bit tongue-in-cheek as Philip eventually noted that it predates John Pertwee. It was a "parody" of a Doctor Who era before that era occurred.

Beaming in from the distant future to wonder who exactly the woman in Monty Python’s science fiction sketch is supposed to be parodying. The women in British SF of the time, and scientific women in US SF movies of the 50s and 60s, tended to be competent and intelligent, even if secondary and imperiled. The fact that Python’s lab assistant keeps getting thumped over the head gives me the creeps. None of this is particular germane to your excellent points but I couldn’t help wondering.
