Elizabeth Sandifer

Elizabeth Sandifer created Eruditorum Press. She’s not really sure why she did that, and she apologizes for the inconvenience. She currently writes Last War in Albion, a history of the magical war between Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. She used to write TARDIS Eruditorum, a history of Britain told through the lens of a ropey sci-fi series. She also wrote Neoreaction a Basilisk, writes comics these days, and has ADHD so will probably just randomly write some other shit sooner or later. Support Elizabeth on Patreon.

I could watch the wedding party bits of this one over and over again. Such lovely ensemble face-acting. Though as usual I think Varys wears his heart on his sleeve too much – his disgusted “seriously the fuck?” reaction to the leftovers announcement is a nice touch, but glowering through the whole of By Royal Decree Officially The Funniest Thing Ever seems unduly impolitic.

And 100% all things Cersei, but when is that not the case? Even if her intonation seems weird on a couple of lines (as may be apparent, my “could” above is really more of a “have”).

Mind you, no way did Olenna ever have any chance to put poison in that cup unnoticed (nominally, the poison could have been in the pie, but the significant shot of Olenna as Tyrion picks up the cup to serve Joffrey his last drink indicates that it’s meant to be the wine). I reckon Tyrion was onto something in pointing the finger at the pigeons – one of the white doves could have lobbed something into the cup on its way up. In which case, maybe the one apparently killed by Joffrey was already dead, dispatched by the assassin dove because it Knew Too Much.

I really think that Martin had it right with how to handle Theon. Just skip a book and have him re-emerge broken some time later.

Well season in the show’s case.
