Shabcast 28 – The 2nd Annual (so far) Eruditorum Press Christmas Party
Title says it all really.
This time I’m joined by EP’s ‘new recruits’ from 2016, Josh, Shana & Daniel.
We don’t actually talk that much politics, so this is a relatively safe space if you’re trying to self-care a bit over the holidays.

Great podcast!
I have a question for Josh, on the off-chance that he’ll see this comment: I’ve been very interested in the concept of iyashikei since I’ve encountered it a couple of months ago. Is there any piece of media you’d recommend for someone who’d like to see how that works in practice? Anything interesting you’ve watched/read/etc.?

Not Josh, but I know the genre pretty well… ARIA is a particularly beloved straight example. Azumanga Daioh is a good example of one focussed more on humour, which can be a good “way in” for Westerners not used to the idea. And Haibane Renmei shows how you can do this and still have an incredible amount of substance. Anyone who is remotely interested in television as an art form should see Haibane Renmei.
