Pex Lives 28: Black Orchid, or, Why do I always let my curiosity get the better of me?
Eruditorum Press is pleased to announce the release of Pex Lives 28, on the Peter Davison non-classic Black Orchid. In this episode, Kevin and James chat the new series, the horrible fucking state of the world, John Carpenter, and Black Orchid.

I think the best you could do with your current format is to do three Davison stories, otherwise there just won’t be enough space to talk about each story distinctly. It’d have to be after the current season is over, and talked to death, because we really do like hearing about what’s fresh.
That doesn’t mean, however, you shouldn’t marathon, say, Season 20. You should marathon Season 20. Just marathon Season 20, and read my essay on Season 20, but focus the podcast on Mawdryn / Terminus / Enlightenment, a nice triptych.
And if you’re doing a trilogy, you should probably have a guest on the podcast. 🙂

As an American should Kevin refer to football as ‘soccerball’, and given the distance from the ground, should most Coloradians be Man U fans…

should have added ‘n’t’ to the end of both shoulds there…

I’d recommend a focus on the loose trilogy of stories “Mawdryn Undead”, “Terminus”, and “Enlightenment” if you wanted to do a cluster of Davison stories. They’d work well together. Greatly enjoyed this podcast, the redemptive read of black orchid as being an honest version of Downton Abbey made me laugh out loud.

So we’re all in agreement: James’ idea was bad and he is a bad person.
Thanks for the recommendations, all! We’re going to sort out some upcoming episodes and definitely will slot in some more Fifth Doctor.
Re: Soccerball vs. Football. Obviously “soccerball” is the preferred nomenclature, but I’m trying to practice blending in overseas and I’m starting out at a disadvantage as it is, since I exclusively wear American Flag clothing.
