Elizabeth Sandifer

Elizabeth Sandifer created Eruditorum Press. She’s not really sure why she did that, and she apologizes for the inconvenience. She currently writes Last War in Albion, a history of the magical war between Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. She used to write TARDIS Eruditorum, a history of Britain told through the lens of a ropey sci-fi series. She also wrote Neoreaction a Basilisk, writes comics these days, and has ADHD so will probably just randomly write some other shit sooner or later. Support Elizabeth on Patreon.

Describing the 2007 performance as “cheap” is almost more shocking than the song, and suggests a complete lack of insight into the American Doll Posse characters.

And otherwise you were doing well.

This seems a needlessly snide and bluntly phrased counterpoint to a long and arguably vulnerable article about an immensely vulnerable artistic work about an (almost) unapproachably vulnerable subject.

Whatever you may feel about the strength, the stylistic/conceptual merit of the tour and that performance as part of it there is no proving yourself the true Scotsman in the room in terms of Amos fandom with such a blythe and callous assertion after reading such a respectful assessment of M And A Gun and, presumably, the preceding assessments of her work leading up to it.

El had endeavoured to balance immense fandom with a level attitude towards the artist’s points of misdirection and excess, and there are many ways to debate her positions on where these lay that are not attempting to have the last word on a project over (or at least paused) sooner than hoped, with so condescending and dismissive a tone.
