Elizabeth Sandifer

Elizabeth Sandifer created Eruditorum Press. She’s not really sure why she did that, and she apologizes for the inconvenience. She currently writes Last War in Albion, a history of the magical war between Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. She used to write TARDIS Eruditorum, a history of Britain told through the lens of a ropey sci-fi series. She also wrote Neoreaction a Basilisk, writes comics these days, and has ADHD so will probably just randomly write some other shit sooner or later. Support Elizabeth on Patreon.

I’m really sorry to hear you have to go through that. I hope this gets resolved in a manner that’s good for you. If not, I for one am happy to buy the book again, through Amazon this time, so that I can post a review of it.

Very sorry, Elizabeth. Is there anything that we, the Supporting public, can do to hasten this change in policy?

For those of us who reviewed the old version; would it help to repost our reviews on the new one?

I can’t imagine how frustrating this must be. Clearly given their Fiction policy they have the means to do this but choose not to in the case of non-fiction (and I can’t get my head around why one rather than the other).

Not proposing this as a solution but would they ADD an author name to a new revision? That would seem to be a not uncommon thing with non-fiction (e.g. elevating a contributor to author status).

Yeah, that stinks. And what is their internal logic? I mean, “to provide a better customer service experience” sounds like standard marketese for “because we can, and it’s less effort for us, so fuck you”. Surely they don’t impose the same blank slate for new editions of non-fiction books otherwise? Because if they don’t, between that and allowing this for fiction it’s hard to see how there could be any coherent rationale.

Good grief. Part of me went “well, isn’t that typical”, while the rest noted that cynicism doesn’t actually help anyone, least of all you. I can’t actually afford to rebuy everything, but if there is anything else we can do to help I’m happy to send emails, sign petitions, or whatever (though I’m already buying as little as I can from Amazon, so my influence is even less than your average punter).
