Elizabeth Sandifer

Elizabeth Sandifer created Eruditorum Press. She’s not really sure why she did that, and she apologizes for the inconvenience. She currently writes Last War in Albion, a history of the magical war between Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. She used to write TARDIS Eruditorum, a history of Britain told through the lens of a ropey sci-fi series. She also wrote Neoreaction a Basilisk, writes comics these days, and has ADHD so will probably just randomly write some other shit sooner or later.Support Elizabeth on Patreon.

Always a pleasure to read. I love sifting through the details and connections you’ve caught and that I failed to catch.

I just wanted to say that I don’t comment much on these essays because I don’t have much to add, but I always deeply enjoy them. They’re often the highlight of my day. So thank you and please, keep up the good work.

“As the saying goes, there’s always doubt until you see a body.”

This, I think, is the moment when Hannibal lays bare the truth behind his “eating the rude” ideology: it’s not just the rude he will eat, but anyone who threatens his status. He kills people because that’s how he demonstrates his superiority to them, and (as in Beverly’s case) he kills them when they threaten his ability to triumph over others in the future.

I still secretly hope the presentation of Beverly Katz is a secret nod to Myrvold and Bilet’s “Modernist Cuisine.”
